Uganda’s middle-distance runner, Halima Nakaayi, has clinched victory in her heat, securing an automatic berth in the semifinals of the Women’s 800m at the ongoing 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary.

In Heat 4, Nakaayi showcased her commanding presence as she dominated from the very beginning to the end, clocking an impressive 1:59.68. Her remarkable form this year has been evident, particularly in July when she set both a National and Personal Best of 1:57.62 at the London Meet.

The 28-year-old has earned a spot in the semifinals, which are scheduled for Friday at 9:25 pm. Her history in the event includes a bronze medal in the 2019 Doha Championships.
