The I&M Bank Katogo Invitational Golf Series returns this Saturday at Entebbe Club, with something extraordinary on the menu; the exciting ‘Me too’ format.

The tournament has made a name for fusing competition and fun, which explains why the organisers have made it a habit to spice things up both on and off the greens, since the series’ inception in April.

By press time, Saturday’s round had up to 200 golfers that had confirmed participation.

And come Saturday, the golfers will this time round have to find ways of navigating the exciting ‘Me too’ new format.

“This is a format that has never been played in Uganda. The Katogo series is always happy to introduce something different and exciting for golfers to enjoy outside of the common formats we are all used to,”noted Serwano Walusimbi, the Entebbe Club Captain.

As golfers prepare to tee off on the par-71 Entebbe golf course for the third leg of the tournament, many will be raring to go and experience this gripping format that fosters teamwork.

The format hinges on the notion that when a player feels that their ball is in a bad spot, they can use a ‘Me-too,’ and move it to the same spot of a group mate in a good position.

Each player will have only nine chances to use the ‘Me too’ call, and it is acceptable at any hole be it a drive, iron shot, or even a putt.

And the player who asks for a ‘Me too’ must either return a better score, or match the better-positioned groupmate’s score. A worse score will attract a one stroke penalty on the player that asked for a ‘Me too.’

“The creativity of the Katogo Series formats has provided inspiring moments on the course.  The unpredictability of the tournament keeps everyone on the edge, and hungry to deliver, so a new star is made for every round.

The Katogo series is driven by the urge to spice up the game we love with something new for every edition.

This round promises to be an exciting one, one that will test golfers’ resolve to be tactical, in order to enjoy a podium finish,” said Annette Nakiyaga, the head of marketing and corporate communications I&M Bank.

Away from the exciting new format, the event has a new addition of a Hole-in-one prize car, that golfers will have to compete for this Saturday.

A brand-new Renault is on offer by the series’ new co-sponsors- Merca Limited, for a lucky golfer that will sink their tee-shot straight into hole number 10.

The Hole-in-one prize car is insured by GA Insurance.

RwandAir, also joins the list of co-sponsors for the series, and will offer air tickets for the winners.
