The build-up to the third and penultimate I&M Katogo Series edition was nothing short of excitement and anticipation.
What set this leg apart, was the introduction of the ‘Me too’ format, a twist that had everyone buzzing with curiosity.

By 8am, on a sunny Saturday morning, the Entebbe Club course was already bustling with golfers, each eager to try their luck at the latest format.

It was like a carnival of golf enthusiasts, and the atmosphere was electric. Golfers were not just here to have a good time, they were here to compete fiercely.

Tournament Director- Paul Kaheru had been brimming with optimism when he unveiled the new format, and boy, did that optimism pay off! He couldn’t have been happier with the results. The day was a delightful fusion of fun and competition that left no room for regrets.

The excitement reached its peak at Hole 10, where a brand-new Renault car gleamed in the distance, tempting golfers with the ultimate prize. Thanks to the generous co-sponsors, Merca Limited and GA Insurance, all you had to do was sink your tee shot directly into hole number 10, to drive home in style. It was a hole that suddenly felt as elusive as a unicorn, but the thrill was worth the chase.

But that wasn’t all; Rwanda Air joined the party, adding to the spectacle by rewarding winners with air tickets to exotic Nairobi, Kenya. It was a hole-in-one kind of day in more ways than one.

Among the notable winners, Next Media CEO- Kin Karisa, took home the trophy for the longest drive on hole number one, while Peter Magona claimed the longest drive on hole number seven in the side bet category. Alexander Matisko reigned supreme in the men’s Group A category, scoring an impressive 65 net, playing off a handicap of 12. Diana Nabukenya showed her prowess in the ladies’ category, scoring a remarkable 66 net with a handicap of 19, earning herself a ticket to Nairobi courtesy of Rwanda Air.

The tournament wouldn’t have been complete without the presence of I&M Bank, the tournament’s headline sponsor. Acting Managing Director Sam Ntulume and the visiting Group Head of Marketing- Mwihaki Wachira, from Nairobi, graced the event.

Wachira, visiting Uganda for the first time, couldn’t hide her excitement at the picturesque Entebbe Golf Club and the vibrant atmosphere created by the members.

Wearing a consistent beautiful smile, Wachira addressed the crowd; “I’m having such a fantastic time here. The course looks splendid, and the Entebbe Golf Club’s atmosphere is just magical. As I&M Bank, we feel truly honored that the Entebbe Golf Club chose us as a partner, not just for the quarterly I&M Katogo Invitational Golf Series, but also to collaborate in nurturing the sport. Your trust in us speaks volumes about the strong relationship we’ve built over time.”

The Ag Managing Director, and a rather familiar face in the golfing community, Sam Ntulume, echoed his sentiments and thanked the golfers for turning the event into a big must-attend occasion. He promised to keep I&M Bank’s commitment to the sport strong and unwavering.
Hosted by celebrated comedian Salvado, the fun evening dragged on into the wee hours of Sunday morning, as golfers took to the dance floor and showcased their dancing skills.

After the exciting ‘Me too’ format, the next I&M Katogo edition is slated for December 9th at Entebbe Club.
