Police in Sipi region have arrested Juliet Chelangat, a 43-year-old resident of Waror village in Tegeres sub-county, Kapchorwa district for allegedly killing her 40-year-old husband, Namawangala Stephen, following a heated dispute over stolen savings.

The incident began when Chelangat withdrew Shs200,000 from the Kabati village savings group on October 4, intending to use the money for their children’s school fees. However, her husband, Stephen, took the money without her consent on October 8 and spent it all on alcohol. He assured her that he would repay the sum by October 9 but failed to do so.

According to the police, the situation escalated into a quarrel, culminating in a physical altercation. During this altercation, Chelangat pushed her husband to the ground, and he lost consciousness. He passed away while being rushed to Kapchorwa Hospital.
