The African Management Institute (AMI), in partnership with the Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU) and the Mastercard Foundation, has launched a training program aimed at enhancing the capabilities of 200 Business Development Service (BDS) providers.

This initiative is designed to empower them to better serve Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Uganda.

A key focus of this project is addressing challenges related to the quality and affordability of Business Development Services (BDS). The partners are working towards promoting the development and adoption of quality standards for BDS, while simultaneously providing training to equip service providers with the tools to overcome existing challenges.

AMI, known for its commitment to providing practical and accessible learning solutions to African businesses and professionals, was engaged to support the development of these standards. The standards were formulated in collaboration with a technical working group comprising industry experts, government officials, and representatives from entrepreneurship support organizations. Subsequently, the standards were submitted to the Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) for approval and gazetting.

To kickstart the implementation of these standards, the three collaborating entities officially launched a sensitization campaign and recruitment drive on September 4th, 2023. The first phase of this campaign aimed to equip organizations, entrepreneurs, and business professionals with information about Uganda’s newly established business development support standards.

Participants were provided with essential tools, mentorship, and resources crucial for fostering sustainable business growth.

Through a combination of mentorship, workshops, and strategic resources, participants had the opportunity to:

  1. Gain insights into business development standards.
  2. Acquire practical strategies to navigate business challenges and seize opportunities.
  3. Establish meaningful connections within the business community.
  4. Access a suite of resources, including training and practical online tools.
  5.
