Woman arrested for throwing 8-month-old baby into Indian Ocean

Kenyan police have arrested a woman accused of throwing her 8-month-old baby into the Indian Ocean. The incident happened at Likoni Ferry in Mombasa County on Sunday.

The swift action by coast guards and divers led to the rescue of the infant, who is now reported to be recovering well at the Red Cross rescue center.

The police reported that the child received immediate first aid at the Red Cross Centre, where she was treated and subsequently discharged in fair condition.

Meanwhile, the mother was taken into custody for questioning as authorities seek to understand the circumstances surrounding the distressing event.

A video capturing the incident has circulated widely on social media, showing the coordinated efforts of coast guards and divers to swiftly rescue the baby from the turbulent waters. The footage has sparked outrage and concern among the public.

In an official statement released on Sunday, the Kenya Red Cross assured the public that the infant is safe and is currently under their care at the rescue center. The organization is actively monitoring the child’s well-being and providing the necessary support for her recovery.
