Security personnel at the Ministry of Internal Affairs headquarters in Kampala were left in shock after they found a man with a snake in a bag during the security checkup.

According to Simon Mundeyi, the ministry’s spokesperson, the man was trying to access the ministry to process a passport when he was asked to avail the bag for a checkup, only for security to discover the snake.

When asked where he was taking the snake, the man insisted that it was his brother with whom he moves wherever he goes.

“We have intercepted people with strange items many times, including most recently someone who came with a bag containing a very large snake. Thank God our security personnel handled it well; otherwise, it could have caused a problem at the ministry headquarters,” Mundeyi said.

He asked members of the public who wish to visit the ministry for passport services not to bring heavy bags or any other security threats because there’s no storage available for them.
