Man sent to prison for entering Nakasero State House to pick scrap

A 28-year-old man, identified as Abraham Muhumuza, has been remanded to Luzira Prison for allegedly entering State House Nakasero in Kampala to pick scrap.

Muhumuza, a resident of Wakiso district and a scrap dealer, appeared before Buganda Road Court Grade One Magistrate Winnie Nankya Jatiko. He faced charges of trespassing in connection with an incident that occurred on November 30, 2023.

According to the prosecution, Muhumuza entered State House Nakasero with the purported intent to annoy and intimidate Special Forces Command (SFC) soldiers who were on guard duty. He claimed to be at the premises to pick scrap.

Muhumuza pleaded not guilty to the charges. He was remanded at Luzira prison until January 19, 2024.
