StarTimes has announced its acquisition of the broadcasting rights for the African Cup of Nations 2023 (AFCON 2023).

The Total Energies AFCON 2023, a highly anticipated sports event, is set to take place in Ivory Coast from January 13, 2024, to February 11, 2024, and will exclusively be available on StarTimes channels across all broadcasting platforms in Africa.

With the local StarTimes Uganda Premier League (UPL) season taking a hiatus for the next four weeks, StarTimes is poised to provide its audiences and commercial partners with the live experience of all 52 matches of AFCON 2023.

Aldrine Nsubuga, Vice President at StarTimes, expressed the company’s joy at securing the broadcasting rights, stating, “We are delighted to announce that StarTimes has secured the broadcasting rights for AFCON 2023. This represents a significant milestone for us as we continue to bring the best in sports entertainment to our viewers. AFCON is a celebration of African talent and passion, and we are proud to play a key role in delivering this experience to homes across the continent.”

In line with StarTimes’ commitment to making premium events accessible to all Ugandans without the barrier of high subscription fees, the company will broadcast all AFCON 2023 matches live on Sports Premium and Sports Life, with Luganda commentary available on Sanyuka Prime.

The matches will be accessible in the Copa bouquet for antenna users and the Special bouquet for satellite users.

Additionally, the mentioned channels will be available on the StarTimes ON mobile streaming app.
