Matchday 18 of The SMACK League’s sixth season had an electrifying atmosphere from the beginning to the end when the quorum gathered at Legends Rugby Grounds on Sunday.

The Bushmen, Class of 2001, went all out in ensuring that the first match day of the year set the pace with the final round of play in sight.  From the gripping action on the field to the post-game festivities, it was notably the best way to begin the New Year.

“Having taken a much-needed Christmas break, The SMACK League returned with Matchday 18, dubbed New Year Edition. This was a precursor to the Finale which will happen on 28th Jan 2024. The major objective was to drive the networking and unity objectives which are pillars of the league and boy oh boy…The Bushmen pulled this off,” said Kasule Joseph Sixtus Kawooya.

The crowd was treated to amazing renditions of popular songs and hits, setting the perfect tone for an evening of good music, cold beer, and catching up with friends.

The entertainment lineup continued to impress, with Lynda Ddane turning the decks, and playing a wide range of music genres at the DJ booth, keeping the audience in a dancing mood. Elijah Kitaka’s soulful serenades were the highlight of the night, and Zafaran, with her captivating performance, left no doubt that she is a rising star in the music industry.

To cap it off, the masterful banter blended with good spirits of MCs Brendalynn and Sixtus added an extra layer of enjoyment, ensuring that the crowd was engaged and entertained throughout the night with light-hearted moments.

Guinness, the event’s beverage sponsor, went above and beyond to ensure that the beer flowed freely. Every table at the venue was adorned with the iconic stout and evidence of guests having a good time.

Roy Tumwizere, the Brand Manager for Guinness welcomed fans back to the grounds for another exciting round of football action.

“Welcome back from the short break. Today has been nothing but a reminder of why Guinness is proud to be associated with the SMACK League. Our consumers keep us accountable to our commitment to delivering top-notch experiences and we plan on doing exactly that for the New Year. Cheers to the New Year and also, we can’t wait to raise a glass to the grand finale on January 28!”

With the stage set for an epic conclusion to Season 6, fans are counting down the days until the grand finale at the end of this month.
