A one Kato John Ssenfuma, a 40-year-old teacher at one of the schools in Mityana, is trending on social media. However, it is not due to any innovation but rather because he was arrested on allegations of attempting to defile a 15-year-old girl, a student at the school where he teaches.

Ssenfuma is currently being detained at Kanyanya Police as investigations are ongoing. The incident has sparked massive reactions, with the majority calling for harsh punishment for the teacher.

But how did the whole saga unfold? An individual who wishes to remain anonymous claims to have been behind the camera when Ssenfuma was apprehended in the student’s guardian’s home.

It is reported that the family became aware of Ssenfuma’s communication with the student through WhatsApp (the student’s phone was secretly being monitored), and they decided to lure him into visiting the student.

Although it has been said that the leaked WhatsApp messages were between Ssenfuma and the student, the anonymous source claims that it was the guardian using the student’s phone to chat with the teacher and managed to lure Ssenfuma into visiting the student in Kyebando Erisa Zone in Kawempe Division, Kampala District.

On January 13, 2024, Ssenfuma travelled to the student’s guardian’s home in Kyebando and was subsequently apprehended upon arrival. Ssenfuma, a resident of Mukono, is said to be a teacher at Hillside College in Mityana.

Police confirmed the incident, stating that Ssenfuma is in custody.

“An examination by a Police surgeon confirmed the well-being of the victim, as the intended activity did not transpire,” said the police.

The investigating officers found the teacher with unused ‘Kiss’ condoms and Shs1,000. The case file was submitted to the office of the Resident State Attorney, and the Kanyanya Police received guidance on the next steps. The file is pending resubmission for sanctioning, and the suspect will face charges as determined by the Prosecution.
