Two dead, eight injured as truck rams into boda bodas at Kawaala Junction

Two people have been confirmed dead, and eight others injured in a fatal accident at Kawaala Junction in Nabweru, Nansana Municipality.

The crash, which occurred on Sunday at around 12:40 pm, involved Motor Vehicle No. UAQ 539E (a Mitsubishi Fuso) and Motorcycles No. UFS 111, UEP 598K, and UFU 872P (all Bajaj Boxers).

According to preliminary reports, the driver of the aforementioned motor vehicle, while at Kawaala Junction from the Kazo side, sloping into the junction, failed to brake and rammed into the aforementioned motorcycles and pedestrians, resulting in the instant death of two people.

Eight others, including pedestrians, riders, and passengers on motorcycles, were left injured. The injured have been rushed to Mulago for treatment.

Bodies have been conveyed to the Mulago mortuary for postmortem. Both the motor vehicle and motorcycles have been towed to Nabweru Police Station pending inspection.

The hunt for the driver, who is on the run, has commenced.
