With the final of Africa’s most prestigious tournament looming between hosts Ivory Coast and Nigeria, set to be played on Sunday, February 11, anticipation reaches its peak. The 2023 AFCON promises not only fierce competition on the field but also substantial rewards for the teams who excel.

The victor of this year’s AFCON will seize a remarkable $7,000,000 (approximately Shs27 billion) in prize money, while the runner-up will depart with a commendable $4,000,000 (around Shs20 billion) consolation.

For the semi-finalists, South Africa and DR Congo, their impressive journey will earn them a substantial reward of $2,500,000 each (about Shs9.5 billion).

Likewise, the four quarter-finalists, Cape Verde, Mali, Morocco, and Guinea, will each receive $1,300,000 (equivalent to Shs4.9 billion), recognizing their commendable efforts in reaching the latter stages of the tournament.

This significant increase in prize money for the 2023 AFCON aims to not only elevate the prestige of the competition but also provide added motivation for teams to deliver top-tier performances on the African football stage.
