New leadership takes helm at Uganda Tourism Board

The Minister of Tourism, Wildlife, and Antiquities, Hon. Tom Butime, has inaugurated new members to lead the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB). They were officially introduced at a ceremony at Mestil Hotel in Kampala.

The new Board members are: Ms. Hoareau Kakooza Pearl EarlyGift (Chairperson), Ms. Olive Birungi Lumonya, Ms. Kebirungi Sally Sandra, Mr. Operemo Vicent, Mr. Stephen Sany Masaba, Mr. Vivian Lyazi, Ms. Margaret Arach Ojara, Mr. Mulinde Tony, Mr. Kiyimba Rashid, Mr. Kawamara Ronald Kazooba, and Ms. Lilly Ajarova (Board Secretary).

During the event, Butime thanked the previous Board for their work in making Uganda more attractive to tourists. He praised their efforts in protecting Uganda’s natural and cultural treasures and making tourism more sustainable.

The Minister also spoke highly of the new Board, saying they bring valuable experience and fresh ideas to improve Uganda’s tourism.

The Permanent Secretary, Ms. Doreen Katusiime, recognized the achievements of the outgoing Board and emphasized the importance of collaboration in the tourism sector.

The outgoing Chairman, Hon. Migereko, encouraged the new Board to focus on promoting tourism within Uganda and building partnerships to help the sector grow.

The new Chairperson, Ms. Hoareau Kakooza, expressed gratitude for the opportunity and promised to continue promoting Uganda as a great place to visit.

The CEO of UTB welcomed the new Board and promised to support them in facing challenges and making the most of opportunities in tourism.

UTB looks forward to working together with the new Board to make Uganda an even more popular destination and bring benefits to the country’s people.
