The ‘Road to Kigali’ is only a couple weeks away as old boys of the Ntare Lions League anticipate the grandest of finales at Ntare School Rebero, Rwanda for an action-packed season end.

But, while the energy is high for March 10th, the semi-finals that were held at the Kampala Quality Complex on Sunday were definitely one to write about too. With Guinness at the centre of the Old Boys all season, it was an experience that perfectly foreshadowed what is yet to come.

Nshera and Omujuma, the two teams who have managed to dominate the top positions for the longest period this season, emerged as the frontrunners on the leaderboard.

With Nshera leading at an impressive 44 points overall and Omujuma closely behind at 41 points, the competition is reaching a fever pitch. The Machandos, currently in third place, are still in contention for the coveted trophy.

Moses Aine, Ex-president of Ntare Lions League, spoke to the media at the event, applauding all teams for having come this far and looking ahead at the season finale.

“All teams have had such great dedication, consistency, and determination. Their energy and zeal have not gone unnoticed for all football fans and pundits alike and we cannot wait to see who comes out on top.  The greatest bit about the league is that it continues to be a unifying force in the community, bringing people together in so many ways,” he said.

Guinness, the proud sponsor of the Ntare Lions League, has been instrumental in elevating the fan experience throughout the season.

Roy Tumwizere, Brand Manager for Guinness, emphasised the brand’s commitment to the leagues stating, “This is the last game day in Kampala and we had to bring an extraordinary experience for our consumers and league fans. This is our send-off party and I have to say, we are excited to continue this journey with Ntare,” he said.

Off the pitch, Guinness curated a sensational experience for fans, setting up a magnificent stage for entertainment post-matches. The Vipi Band serenaded the crowd, drawing the attention of football fans, players and the community who danced their hearts out well into the night.

The Kigali finale will be a culmination of 10 years and 14 seasons of this premier old boys’ soccer league that not only celebrates Ntare School’s rich heritage but also their alumni. It is one of the old boys leagues Guinness sponsors in celebration of the beautiful game of football and fostering networking.
