The Minister of Trade, Industry, and Cooperatives, Francis Mwebesa, has appointed Eng. James Kasigwa Nkamwesiga as the new Executive Director of the Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS). He replaces Dr. David Livingstone Ebiru, who served as ED from May 2021 to July 2023.

Kasigwa assumed the office on May 13, according to a statement released on May 14 by Sylvia Kirabo, the principal public relations officer of UNBS.

Before joining UNBS, Kasigwa, an electrical engineer, served as the Director of Science, Technology, Innovation Regulation, and Biosafety at the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation. Prior to that, he was the Commissioner of ICT Infrastructure Development at the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance.
