Police in Mitooma district are hunting for a witch doctor who allegedly colluded with three others to poison and kill 45-year-old businessman Emmanuel Nshimeyimana in Butagatsi village.

The suspects include Ruth Muhairwe, Nshimeyimana’s wife, Patrick Mukisa, and the witch doctor, known only as Kabyogamo.

According to Greater Bushenyi police spokesperson Marcial Tumusiime, Nshimeyimana, his wife Muhairwe, and Mukisa had traveled from Kakumiro to seek out traditional healers to help them track down individuals who had robbed their shop.

The trio visited Kabyogamu’s house, where he allegedly gave them a poisoned drink after taking Shs 500,000 from them. Nshimeyimana died shortly after consuming the drink.

Kabyogamu’s associates reportedly removed the body from the scene and dumped it in Kashenshero sub-county, where it was later discovered by passersby who alerted the authorities. The body was transported to Kitagata Hospital in Sheema district for a post-mortem examination.
