Kalungu County West Member of Parliament (MP), Joseph Gonzaga Ssewungu, has humorously welcomed the planned March to Parliament on 23 July, saying protestors will be able to find food and drinks at the parliament canteen.

Ssewungu said that Speaker Anita Among set a good precedent last week when she allowed ‘staged’ electorates from Lwemiyaga to march into Parliament to present a petition against their area MP, Theodore Ssekikubo.

“I urge Ugandans to march to parliament next week. Write any message on your placards and come peacefully to parliament,” Ssewungu said.

“When you enter parliament, feel free to eat food and drink anything you find at the canteen,” he added.

Meanwhile, on Thursday, police summoned four youths for questioning over the planned anti-corruption march to Parliament. The group held a closed-door meeting at the police headquarters in Naguru.
