A former counter-terrorism officer, Isaac Newton Ojok, 36, has been arrested for posing as a traffic officer on Entebbe Road and extorting money from unsuspecting motorists.

Ojok, 36, who was dismissed from the Uganda Police Force a few months ago over disciplinary issues, reportedly turned to illegal activities after struggling to make ends meet.

According to police spokesperson Kituuma Rusoke, Ojok was arrested on September 19 by the Old Kampala police.

It is reported that he was unlawfully impounding motorcycles on the Queensway Flyover, which feeds into Entebbe Road, while posing as a traffic officer.

“Despite his dismissal from the force, he continued to impersonate a traffic officer and engage in unauthorized activities,” said Rusoke.

Ojok is currently detained at Usafi Police Station as investigations continue.
