Man arrested in Masindi for digging own grave, buying coffin

Police in Masindi have arrested a one Moses Wanara after he dug a grave and bought a coffin, sparking fears he might harm himself or his relatives amid a heated land dispute.

Wanara, a resident of Zebra village, had excavated the grave and placed the coffin in his home, alarming local residents who worried he might take drastic action.

The chairman of Karujubu sub-county, Solomon Asiimwe, alerted the police after concerned community members approached him.

Julius Hakiza, spokesperson for the Albertine region police, confirmed Wanara’s detention at Masindi Central Police Station.

Hakiza stated that the police acted swiftly to address the situation, assessing Wanara’s mental well-being and understanding the reasons behind his actions.
