Victoria University mourns the passing of Council Chairman Canon Joram F. Kahenano

Victoria University has announced the passing of its Council Chairman, Canon Joram F. Kahenano, who died on October 5, 2024, at the age of 76.

Dr. Lawrence Muganga, Vice Chancellor of Victoria University, said, “Canon Kahenano was a visionary leader whose significant contributions profoundly impacted the growth and development of the university.”

The funeral service is set for today at All Saints Cathedral in Kampala, followed by burial on Tuesday, October 8, at 11:00 AM at Kyamugorani C.O.U. in Mbarara, along the Bypass.

Canon Kahenano enjoyed a distinguished 36-year career at the Bank of Uganda, where he held multiple director positions, including Executive Director of Administration, Executive Director of Operations, Director of Banking, Director of Foreign Exchange, and Director of Exchange Control.

His experience also extended to serving on the boards of several esteemed institutions, including Makerere University, Mengo Hospital, Uganda Christian University, the Uganda Institute of Bankers, and the Church of Uganda. At the time of his passing, Kahenano was a trustee of Uganda Small Scale Industries and a Non-Executive Director at I&M Bank.
