The Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) have announced that Dr. Kizza Besigye, the veteran opposition leader, will be arraigned before the General Court Martial in Makindye this morning.

Local media quotes Brigadier Felix Kulaigye, the UPDF spokesperson, as saying, “Go to Makindye Court Martial today at 11 am; you will find the answer you need.”

Besigye was abducted from Nairobi, Kenya, on Saturday and forcibly returned to Uganda.

According to reports, Besigye has been held at the Makindye military barracks in Kampala since Sunday.

As of the time of writing, top leaders of the FDC Katonga faction, led by Erias Lukwago, are waiting at Makindye Military Court Martial for the arraignment of Dr. Kizza Besigye and Haji Obed Kamulegeya, who are expected to face charges.

The two were arrested in Kenya on Saturday, although the Kenyan government has distanced itself from their detention.
