Parallel send-off events held as Ssegirinya is laid to rest in Masaka

Kawempe North Member of Parliament Muhammad Ssegirinya has been laid to rest at his ancestral home in Kaddugala-Butale, Masaka.

Ssegirinya passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2025, after battling various health complications for a prolonged period. He passed away aged 37.

Today, two parallel send-off events were held. One, where Robert Kyagulanyi, alias Bobi Wine, served as the chief mourner, took place at the deceased’s ancestral home, while the other was organized by former Leader of Opposition Mathias Mpuuga at Butale Playground.

Ssegirinya’s mother, Justine Ssanyu Nakajumba, who attended the event at the ancestral home, expressed gratitude to both Bobi Wine and Mpuuga for supporting her during the time when Ssegirinya was battling health complications.

Both Bobi Wine and Mpuuga pledged to continue supporting Ssegirinya’s family.

Ssegirinya was laid to rest around 3 p.m. amidst hundreds of mourners, most of whom were dressed in red.
