National Unity Platform (NUP) party President Robert Kyagulanyi, alias Bobi Wine, has said that the late Muhammad Ssegirinya was destined to be a great leader, whether or not he had met him.

Speaking at the send-off event in Kaddugala-Butale in Masaka, Bobi Wine stated that Ssegirinya’s determination to serve his people was extraordinary.

“When I joined Parliament, I told people that if Parliament cannot go to the ghetto, the ghetto will come to Parliament. And when we sent Muhammad Ssegirinya to Parliament, he started working right away,” Bobi Wine said.

He highlighted that Ssegirinya’s conviction for serving his constituents was unmatched, as he managed to fulfill his manifesto in just three months.

“Ssegirinya was the true definition of People Power,” Bobi Wine added.

Hundreds of mourners gathered in Kaddugala to pay their respects to the late Ssegirinya. He will be laid to rest later today.

Meanwhile, a parallel event is being held at another venue, where prayers are being conducted for Ssegirinya’s send-off.

According to different sources at Ssegirinya’s funeral, a group of unidentified people attempted to move his body from his parents’ home to Butale Playground, where his official send-off had been organized by Nyendo Mukungwe Legislator Mathias Mpuuga.
