Police in Kitagwenda District have arrested Amarakutunga Levi, a musician and male councillor representing persons with disabilities, for allegedly murdering a 4-year-old child from Nyaruhanda Village in a suspected ritual sacrifice.

The police’s preliminary report indicates that the child went missing on March 16, 2025, after being sent to a neighbor’s house. His body was discovered the next morning in a bush.

The police investigation involved the K-9 unit, which tracked a scent leading to Levi’s home, approximately 300 meters from the crime scene.

A suspected panga with bloodstains was also recovered about 200 meters from the body.

The police said that a further search of the suspect’s home yielded incriminating evidence, including a bucket filled with water containing clothes and blood, as well as bloodstains on the wall of one of the rooms. Investigations are still ongoing to establish the motive for the murder.
