Once a celebrated member of the renowned gospel group Limit X, Dr. Dennis Sempebwa shared the stage with Paul Mutebi, Paul Serukenya, and Isaac Rucci.

Throughout the 1990s, Limit X captivated audiences as one of the most successful gospel groups of its time. However, as the years passed, the group disbanded, with each member charting new paths in life.

For Dr. Sempebwa, that path led to a distinguished career as a public intellectual. Today, he is regarded as one of Africa’s leading thought leaders, having worked in 87 countries and authored 18 books—each offering profound insights into leadership, purpose, and human connection.

Last Friday, he unveiled his 19th book, People-ology, at Next Media. At its core, the book explores the relationship quotient, a life-altering ability to navigate human interconnectedness with wisdom and intention.

During the book launch, Dr. Sempebwa shared personal experiences that inspired People-ology, weaving deep truths into relatable anecdotes.

“Relationships are like mangoes. If you’ve never picked a bad one, you’ve never truly gone mango picking,” he said. He recounted his childhood, where he loved picking mangoes despite often ending up with rotten ones—an analogy for friendships and the inevitable disappointments they sometimes bring.

People-ology presents a wealth of practical, easy-to-apply principles that help readers master the art of building meaningful connections. The book challenges readers to evaluate the people in their lives and understand how they either propel or hinder their personal growth.

Christine Musisi, one of the speakers at the launch, lauded Dr. Sempebwa’s innate ability to connect with people.

“You are open, a connector, and someone who truly values people. Not only that, but you also add value to those around you. You have mastered both the science and art of human relationships,” she remarked.

Pastor Wilson Bugembe said Dr. Sempebwa’s authenticity and intentionality sets him apart.

“I’ve attended many meetings where words go in one ear and out the other. But Dr. Sempebwa? His words stick because he speaks from a place of truth and experience,” Bugembe said.

With People-ology, Dr. Sempebwa delivers yet another compelling work—one that will make readers laugh, reflect, and most importantly, rethink the way they navigate relationships.
