As part of its growing commitment to environmental sustainability and community development, United Bank for Africa (UBA) Uganda has embarked on an ambitious tree-planting campaign across the country, with a target of planting 10,000 trees in 2025 under the theme: “Our Land: A Greener Future.”

This nationwide effort reflects UBA’s deep belief that banking is more than transactions—it’s transformation. The campaign, which has already seen the planting of various species including fruit, shade, and eucalyptus trees, highlights the bank’s commitment to building a healthier, greener Uganda by taking direct action in the communities it serves.

Over the past two weeks, branches in Kampala, Mbale, Gulu, Jinja, Mukono, Fort Portal, and Mbarara have taken significant steps toward this goal by partnering with schools, churches, universities, community centers, and police stations to sow seeds of change in their communities.

“Every tree we plant represents a promise to the environment, our children, and future generations,” said a UBA spokesperson. “This initiative is more than CSR; it’s a movement to secure a greener, cleaner Uganda.”

The recipients of the trees expressed their gratitude for UBA’s initiative, highlighting the positive impact it will have on their communities. The trees will not only enhance the environment but also serve as sources of food (fruits) and shade.

The bank has pledged to continue this effort across the country in 2025, aiming to reach the 10,000-tree milestone as part of its Corporate Environmental Responsibility—creating an impact that will be felt for generations to come.
