Rajiv Ruparelia, the beloved son of business magnate Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia and Managing Director of the Ruparelia Group—Uganda’s largest business conglomerate—will have his final farewell on Tuesday, May 6.

A vigil is currently underway at the Ruparelia residence in Kololo, where friends, family, and associates have gathered to mourn and support the grieving family. The atmosphere is heavy with sorrow, as Dr. Sudhir and his loved ones try to come to terms with the devastating loss of a son, a brother, and a friend to many.

Rajiv’s life was tragically cut short in the early hours of Saturday morning, when he was involved in a fatal accident at the Busabala flyover on the Munyonyo Expressway.

A statement released by the family, indicates that Rajiv will be cremated at 2:30pm on Tuesday at the Hindu Crematorium in Lugogo. They humbly requested privacy as they navigate this painful period of grief and reflection.

Rajiv was more than just a businessman—he was a visionary with a generous heart. Known for his deep commitment to philanthropy, his vibrant energy in motorsport, and his unwavering dedication to Uganda’s economic and social development, Rajiv leaves behind a legacy of compassion, ambition, and community spirit.

He will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched with his kindness, leadership, and infectious enthusiasm for life.
