Police in Kisoro District have arrested a man accused of killing his 18-year-old wife following a domestic dispute over cooking supper.

The tragic incident occurred on Thursday in Gikoro Village, Chihe Parish, Nyakinama Sub-county.

According to Elly Maate, the Kigezi region police spokesperson, the couple had been married for only a month.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the disagreement began when the husband, identified as Irakiza, became violent after his wife, Ntezimana, reportedly refused to cook supper.

Maate said the confrontation escalated, ultimately resulting in the young woman’s death.

The suspect is currently being held at Kisoro Police Station as investigations into the incident continue.
