The Electoral Commission (EC) has expressed satisfaction with the public’s response to the ongoing voter register display exercise, which began on April 25, 2025.

According to EC spokesperson Julius Mucunguzi, the exercise has seen a strong turnout, with many citizens actively verifying their voter details, particularly through the Commission’s online platform.

“We are pleased with the progress so far. A significant number of Ugandans, especially the youth, have embraced the online system to check their registration details,” Mucunguzi said. “At times, the high traffic even overwhelms our systems, which is a good indicator of engagement.”

Uganda’s population is predominantly youthful, with over 70% falling within that demographic. The EC attributes the success of the online verification system largely to this tech-savvy segment of the population.

The voter register display, currently underway at all polling stations nationwide, will officially close on Thursday, May 15. Mucunguzi confirmed there will be no extension beyond this date.

To address concerns and resolve any discrepancies during the exercise, the EC has set up parish-level tribunals to handle complaints at various polling stations.
