Outspoken social commentator Frank Gashumba has been introduced by his lover, Patience Mutoni Malaika, to her parents in Ssembabule.

Gashumba, accompanied by family members and close friends, traveled to Ssembabule this morning to begin the first steps of making his relationship official.

Although the ceremony has been highly private, Gashumba hinted at the development through a cryptic post on social media.

He wrote, “Wanna thank me! Congratulations Umuvandimwe Original,” and shared photos of himself dressed in traditional attire.

For years, Gashumba has remained discreet about his romantic life, fueling speculation and public curiosity.

At one point, he openly expressed his preference for staying single, citing discomfort with the expectations that come with marriage—particularly what he described as “mandatory bedroom obligations.”

“I cannot get married. What would a woman bring into my life that would make me give up my freedom? When you marry, you’re expected to be awake all night addressing those bedroom needs, and I simply don’t have that energy,” Gashumba once said.

However, with this latest development, it appears he may be ready to trade some of that freedom for companionship.
