Speke Resort Munyonyo, Uganda’s premier resort, is extending its commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts, as resort staff actively participated in a blood donation exercise last week.
The initiative saw employees patiently queue up to donate blood, recognizing that it directly saves lives and helps maintain a stable supply for various medical needs.

Donated blood is essential for surgeries, trauma care, cancer treatment, and the management of chronic illnesses.
“We recognize the critical importance of accessible blood supplies and are proud to support this lifesaving cause. We extend our sincere appreciation to our team for embodying the values of compassion, responsibility, and service to the community,” said the resort management.

In Uganda, with a population of over 48 million people, approximately only 300,000 units of blood are collected annually. This is below the World Health Organization’s recommended target of one donation per 100 people per year, according to Makerere University News. Uganda Blood Transfusion Services (UBTS) estimates that the country may require around 510,030 units of blood annually.

The initiative highlights Speke Resort Munyonyo’s commitment to community well-being and social responsibility.

By organizing this blood donation drive, the resort aims to support healthcare services and encourage a culture of giving that saves lives and strengthens community bonds.
