Eddie Mutwe, whose real name is Edward Ssebufu, a bodyguard of National Unity Platform (NUP) leader Bobi Wine, has told the court that he is dying from pain, having never received any specialised treatment following his torture ordeal.

While appearing before Grade One Magistrate Abdallah Kayiza in Masaka this afternoon, Eddie Mutwe, who bears visible torture marks on his hands and legs, said prison authorities have only been giving him painkillers since he was remanded over a week ago.

“I take 12 painkillers every day. I feel like I am dying… If they must cut off my arms, let it be done so that I can be released and get some treatment. I’m dying from pain,” Eddie Mutwe said while shivering.

Bobi Wine previously stated that Eddie Mutwe told him he had been electrocuted, waterboarded, and beaten while in military custody. He pleaded for Eddie Mutwe’s release so he could receive specialised treatment.

Eddie Mutwe, along with four other bodyguards of Bobi Wine, is facing multiple charges, including robbery, assault, and malicious damage to property.
