Celebrated Nigerian media personality Adesope Olajide, aka Shopsydoo / Energy Gawd, is on his way to Uganda to attend music star Bebe Cool’s highly anticipated Break The Chains album release, slated for this Thursday, May 29, at Noni Vie.
Adesope is a renowned Nigerian UK-based radio and television personality, talk show host, and podcaster, best known for The Afrobeats Podcast, a popular show that focuses on Afrobeats and Afropop culture.
Adesope’s presence at the Break The Chains album release will not only add a layer of excitement to the event but also guarantee a new level of exposure for Bebe Cool’s music, as well as the Ugandan music industry as a whole.
The collaboration between Bebe Cool and Adesope is expected to lead to interesting cultural exchanges between the Ugandan and Nigerian music industries.
Adesope has closely worked with artists like Burna Boy, Wizkid, Sarkodie, Lil Kesh, and our very own Joshua Baraka, among others.
Fans and industry stakeholders have eagerly awaited the release of Break The Chains, especially after the launch of the first two singles—Circumference and Motivation—which introduced a different Bebe Cool, with a completely new Afrobeat sound.
Adesope has been widely recognized for his contribution to African music and culture and is considered a somewhat unsung hero of the global boom of the Afrobeats genre.

Adesope’s media journey began in 2003, and he quickly made his mark, making significant contributions to the global recognition and dissemination of Afrobeats, Africa’s most valuable cultural export.
He was rightfully acknowledged as one of Africa’s 100 most impactful individuals by Ranks Africa.
He has been the driving force behind many global Afrobeats artists’ early careers, believing in their potential when no one else did.
In September 2020, Adesope started a weekly podcast show—The Afrobeats Podcast—and has hosted several African stars, including Stonebwoy, CKay, Rema, Fuse ODG, Brymo, Don Jazzy, Sarkodie, Camidoh, King Promise, Fireboy DML, Darkovibes, Ruger, Timaya, Wizkid, Diamond Platnumz, Yemi Alade, and his host in Uganda, Bebe Cool, among others.
His tireless efforts have solidified him as a bridge-builder, connecting continents through the universal language of music.
African star Wizkid bestowed upon Adesope the moniker “Afrobeats CNN,” in recognition of his relentless efforts to promote and propagate the Afrobeats culture worldwide.
