Tanzanian music star Diamond Platnumz has publicly declared his admiration for Ugandan music icon Jose Chameleone, revealing that a musical collaboration between the two East African stars is finally in the works.
Speaking during his performance in Ntungamo District, Diamond thrilled the crowd not only with his own hits but also with a tribute performance of Chameleone’s classic Valu Valu. The crowd erupted as he paused mid-performance to give heartfelt praise to the Ugandan legend.
“I’ve always wanted to do a song with Jose Chameleone,” Diamond said. “He’s a legend we love and respect so much—not just in Uganda, but across East Africa. He brought us together through music.”
According to Diamond, plans for a joint project were initially set in motion some time ago but were put on hold due to Chameleone’s health challenges. Now that the Ugandan star has recovered and is back in action, Diamond confirmed that 2025 will be the year they finally hit the studio together.
“We were supposed to record earlier, but unfortunately, he got sick and had to travel for treatment. Now that he’s well again, it’s time to make it happen,” he told the audience.
“He’s one of those artists who made East Africa proud. We’re grateful for everything he’s done,” he added.
