Family releases tentative funeral programme for Cedric Babu Ndilima

Plans are currently underway to repatriate the body of Cedric Babu Ndilima, a media personality, sports administrator, and political leader, who passed away at the age of 49. Cedric died on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at the Aga Khan University Hospital in Nairobi, Kenya, following struggle with severe heart failure.

Cedric, who served as the Vice Chairman for Kampala in the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), is expected to be returned to Uganda midweek. According to Michael Mawanda, the PLU’s Director of Mobilisation, the body is likely to arrive on Wednesday or Thursday. Final funeral arrangements will proceed once the exact date of return is confirmed.

The family has released a tentative funeral programme beginning Sunday, June 1. Prayers will be held at Cedric’s residence on Plot 1, Fumu Close in Kololo on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, each evening at 5:00 PM. A mass will follow on Wednesday, June 4 at 6:00 PM at the residence of Captain Francis Babu in Naguru, culminating in a night vigil at 8:00 PM.

On Thursday, June 5, another mass and vigil will take place at the same Naguru residence. A requiem mass is planned for Friday, June 6, at Rubaga Cathedral, followed by the transfer of the body to the family home in Kamengo for an evening vigil.

The final funeral ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, June 7, with the specific time yet to be confirmed.
