The Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) has spoken about the bomb explosion that went off near the Munyonyo Martyrs’ Shrine this morning, saying the UPDF counter-terrorism unit pursued and neutralised the two armed terrorists.

According to Chris Magezi, the acting UPDF spokesperson, the operation was intelligence-led.

The two people said to have been carrying the bomb died at the scene of the blast—one male who was riding the motorcycle, and the other a female who is said to have been carrying the bomb.
