X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, has officially suspended a fraudulent account that had been impersonating Ugandan business mogul Sudhir Ruparelia.
The suspension follows a public statement issued earlier this week by Sudhir, chairman of the Ruparelia Group, in which he disassociated himself from the handle @RupareliaSudhi, warning the public of its deceptive content.
According to Sudhir, the impersonator had been publishing misleading posts that falsely gave the impression of representing him. He stated that he holds no official account on the platform and called on users to report the profile for immediate action.
After several weeks of activity, the account has now been taken down by X, following reports from the public highlighting the impersonation.
Sudhir, 69, is among Uganda’s wealthiest and most prominent entrepreneurs, with a portfolio spanning sectors such as banking, insurance, real estate, hospitality, media, and education. His net worth is estimated at $1.2 billion, according to Forbes.
