As the world prepares to celebrate Fathers’ Day this Sunday, June 15th, celebrated makeup guru- Mona Faces, has penned a deeply moving tribute – a handwritten not filled with gratitude, love, and remembrance, to honor her late father.

Mona’s note is part of Johnnie Walker’s new Father’s Day campaign, dubbed- “A Toast to Dad,” that was rolled out a few days back.

Her emotional message captures the essence of what the campaign is all about- celebrating the quiet strength, enduring lessons, and powerful spirit of fathers.

“He taught me how to draw… how to cook… how to be kind. He’s no longer here, but I feel him in everything I create,” Mona’s note reads in part.

“In every brush stroke, in every bold step I take. He passed on more than love. He passed on his spirit. And today, I honour it,” Mona continues in her note to her father!

Her heartfelt words are a tribute not only to her own father, but to the many fathers across Uganda and the world, whose impact is still felt long after they’re gone. Through her art, her career, and her values, Mona carries her father’s legacy forward, a perfect reflection of the spirit behind the Johnnie Walker Father’s Day campaign.

“A Toast to Dad is Johnnie Walker’s 2025 Father’s Day tribute, calling on Ugandans to celebrate the fathers who have kept walking, through challenges, triumphs, and everything in between.

“Fathers play an extraordinary role in shaping who we are, often in ways that go unnoticed until much later in life,” said Christine Kyokunda, Brand Manager Scotch & Reserve at Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL).

“With this campaign, we’re shining a light on the values, lessons, and quiet strength our fathers pass on. We are encouraging our consumers and everyone out there to celebrate their fathers while they still can,” she added.

Through the campaign, sons, daughters, and whisky lovers across the country are invited to write heartfelt notes to their fathers, stories of resilience, love, and legacy. A selection of these letters will be showcased on NBS TV, giving the nation a front-row seat to the emotional power of fatherhood.

And in a fitting gesture, Johnnie Walker will reward the authors of the most impactful letters with personalised Johnnie Walker bottles, a meaningful keepsake to toast to their fathers and the spirit that lives on.

“This year, it’s not about grand gestures, it’s about the words we’ve never said, the stories we’ve never told. Because sometimes, the most meaningful gift is simply saying,
“Thank you, Dad,” Kyokunda added.

How to participate:

  • Write a heartfelt note to your dad, celebrating how he has kept walking through life’s ups and downs.
  • Share the letter on your social media pages, tagging NBS TV and Johnnie Walker, and include the hashtags #aToastToDad and #KeepWalking.
  • Tune in to NBS TV to hear the most moving letters read live, and find out if you’re one of the lucky winners of a personalized Johnnie Walker bottle for your dad.
