Renowned lawyer and former Member of Parliament Mukasa Mbidde has shared a unique perspective about women, age, and marriage.
Speaking during a recent interview on a local radio station, Mbidde expressed his views on what women over 30 should prioritize when it comes to relationships and settling down.
According to Mbidde, once a woman turns 30, her mindset about marriage should shift. “Women above 30 should stop waiting to be chosen,” he said. “Instead, they should start preparing themselves to choose and support a partner.”
He emphasized the importance of financial independence and personal growth at that stage in life.
“You should be making serious investments by now—things that position you to start and sustain a family,” he said.
Mbidde went on to explain the practical challenges women over 30 often face in finding partners. He noted that many women in this age bracket typically seek men around 40 years old, but by that time, most of those men are already married or have established families.
“The few men still single at 40 are usually divorced or may have lost their partners,” he said. “That means the sample space for women over 30 is just about 20 percent—making it statistically harder to find a partner.”
