Singer Winnie Nwagi has once again sparked controversy after a video of her slapping a male fan during a performance in Rukungiri went viral.
In the clip, widely shared on social media, the Swangz Avenue star is seen striking a reveller in the crowd. Addressing the incident in an interview with Mr. Henrie, Nwagi admitted to the slap but denied reports that she kicked the fan as well.
She explained that the video had been edited to appear more violent, with a scene from her performance of Batuleke—which involves a choreographed kick—spliced together with the slap.
“That video was edited. It was just a slap. The kick they’re talking about is part of my stage routine in Batuleke,” she said.
Nwagi remained unapologetic, insisting that the fan was being disrespectful by touching her inappropriately and that she reacted instinctively. She argued that viral videos often lack context and only show her reaction, not the fan’s misconduct.
“The person I slapped was disrespectful. But videos always capture my part, not what happened before. I won’t allow to be touched without consent. Whenever it happens, I react—sometimes with a slap,” she said.
Despite online criticism, Nwagi made it clear she won’t back down if faced with similar situations in the future.
