The Democratic Front Party (DF), under the leadership of Mathias Mpuuga, has announced that it is ready to accommodate politicians who were denied party tickets by other formations like National Resistance Movement (NRM) and National Unity Platform (NUP), promising them a fair platform without financial demands.

Speaking at the party headquarters in Kampala, DF chairman Lubega Mukaaku described the party as one of the fastest-growing political movements, open to all Ugandans willing to serve with integrity and commitment.

“We welcome anyone who was denied a party card elsewhere. Our message is simple—join the Democratic Front and grow with us. We do not ask for money, only loyalty and hard work for the party and the country. Our mission is to take over national leadership, and we are fully prepared,” Mukaaku stated.

His comments come in the wake of dissatisfaction within the National Unity Platform (NUP), where some members accused the leadership of an unfair candidate selection process ahead of the 2026 general elections. Disgruntled aspirants were advised to either contest as independents or explore alternative platforms.

Mukaaku expressed optimism that DF would benefit from such fallout. He noted that under Mpuuga’s stewardship, the party is ready to attract strong candidates who can secure victory in both local and national contests. “Our members are well-prepared and capable of assuming leadership roles across the country,” he added.

Meanwhile, the party’s Electoral Commission chairperson, Henry Lubowa, encouraged both long-serving members and new entrants to collect nomination forms before the set deadline. “In the Democratic Front, no seat is reserved for individuals. We encourage everyone with the will and ability to serve the nation to take advantage of this opportunity,” he said.
