A friendly international football match in Tanzania came to an unexpected halt when a swarm of bees invaded the pitch, forcing players, officials, and media personnel to pause the game for several minutes.

The bizarre incident occurred during the Tanzanite Preseason Tournament on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at Kwaraa Stadium, a popular venue known for hosting regional competitions and friendly matches.

Chaos erupted in the 78th minute when the bees suddenly descended from a nearby tree, sending players into a panic. Match officials quickly instructed everyone on the field to lie flat on the ground to avoid being stung. Players from both teams complied, lying still regardless of possession, as they waited for the swarm to disperse.
