Season 10 of the Chaapa League, proudly sponsored by Guinness, will climax on Saturday, 20th September 2025, with a grand finale at Mbarara High School (Chaapa) Grounds, under the theme “Road to the Kraal.”
With most of the previous action happening around Kampala, the league season finale will see the Chaapa alumni return home to the Kraal, to the place where they belong, back to where it all started.
The season finale was launched on Wednesday at Kati Kati Restaurant in Lugogo, with the stakeholders promising a thrilling showdown, massive fan engagement, and an unforgettable celebration of Chaapa heritage. The event also featured draws for the season finale.
Unlike the previous nine editions, where the league was played in a round-robin format, this season it has adopted a knockout format. After completion of the regular season, the top eight teams will now play in the quarter-finals, semi-finals, and eventually the final.
CHOGM (2003) will face Msamatu (2001). Dingiswayo shall tussle against CF Burdizo, as See Far (2002) will square up against Sikukulu (2008). The other quarter-final contest has Yobo Yobo (2006) against Bull Old Timers.
Kenedy Gumisiriza, the chairperson of the Chaapa League, anticipates an epic climax as he lauded the different sponsors and partners.
“The Road to the Kraal for the 10th edition of the Chaapa League is on. There are great preparations to have a successful climax on the 20th September 2025 at Mbarara High School main playgrounds. We urge all the old students to come and attend,” Gumisiriza revealed.
The head of technical for the Chaapa League, Douglas Ainemani, assured a smooth flow of the games on the final day.
Mercy Atwongyeire, the Project Manager Premium Beer at Uganda Breweries Limited, representing the brand Guinness, said that the league goes beyond football, bringing people together to celebrate culture, friendship, and community.
“The Chaapa League provides an opportunity for alumni to reconnect, share experiences, and network in different capacities because you have different years coming together. This is something we believe in as Guinness, and we’ll continue supporting it because of the communion it breeds,” she said.
Atwongyeire added that it’s a good idea to take the grand finale to Mbarara. Besides giving alumni a chance to reconnect with their roots, it will also help boost the local economy.
Guinness is set to elevate the matchday experience, making sure fans enjoy every moment throughout and after the event. Captain Morgan will also be available for fans to enjoy.
Holistics, an alumni ladies’ team from Maryhill High School that has been part of the league for four seasons, will grace the Chaapa League season finale and play a match against the current students of their school.
The other sponsors and partners for the CHAAPA League include Silver Backs Events and Lounge, Linqsoft Aluminum, Luxor Bar and Grill Mbarara, Tian Woodwork and Furniture, Cavendish University, Switch-off, Tayari TV, among others.
