Victoria University’s rugby sevens side, the Victoria Sharks, claimed their third consecutive Varsity 7s championship title on Sunday after defeating Uganda Martyrs University Nkozi 31–10 in the grand finale held at Kyambogo University.
The Sharks, who went unbeaten throughout all tournament circuits, reaffirmed their dominance in East African university rugby with a commanding display of speed, skill, and solid defence. Their relentless attack produced decisive tries in both halves, sealing a comfortable win.

In a statement, Victoria University lauded the players for their exceptional performance, describing the triumph as proof of the institution’s dedication to nurturing both academic and athletic excellence.
“Excellence, discipline, and determination are part of the Victoria DNA,” the university noted.
Players in navy-and-red jerseys celebrated joyfully, lifting the shining trophy as fans cheered. Vice Chancellor Dr. Lawrence Muganga hailed the team’s consistency and resilience, saying, “We think forward. We lead change.”

For many of the student-athletes, balancing studies with elite-level competition, the victory marked a proud personal milestone.
