Buganda Kingdom Prime Minister (Katikkiro) Charles Peter Mayiga has dismissed reports alleging that his iPhone 17 was stolen over the weekend during the Masaza Cup Final between Buwekula and Singo.

Speaking about the claims, Mayiga laughed off the allegations, saying it was impossible for his phone to be stolen given the level of security around him.

The Katikkiro said those spreading the false rumours were only attempting to divert attention from the success of the event and the surprise appearance of Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II at the final, which Buwekula won at Nakivubo Stadium.

“Those spreading false rumours are simply trying to overshadow the success of the event and the surprise appearance of Kabaka Muwenda Mutebi at the final. You saw how happy the crowd was when the Kabaka arrived,” Mayiga said.

He added, “Some of those people have been saying that the Kabaka is very sick. You saw how healthy he is — he was all smiles.”
