Euro Gold has received a mining license in Mubende from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development.

This followed a recent partnership with Mubende United Artisanal Miners signed on 3 November 2025 at Eurogold’s head office in Kampala. Euro Gold refinery is fully owned by a Ugandan, Feni Bernard.

Under the agreement, Eurogold will purchase and refine gold from MUMA to 99.9% purity (24-carat) for international trade. The initiative is part of Eurogold’s broader strategy to build a more inclusive, transparent, and sustainable gold industry in Uganda.

Gold remains one of Uganda’s leading export commodities, contributing significantly to foreign exchange earnings, job creation, and overall economic growth. By improving the value chain and formalising artisanal mining, partnerships like this are expected to further strengthen the country’s gold exports and stabilise the Ugandan shilling through increased foreign exchange inflows.

Speaking during the licence handover event held in Bukya Town Council, Mubende District, Agnes Alaba, Commissioner for Mines, presented the licence on behalf of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Development, Ruth Nankabirwa. The document was officially received by representatives from MUMA and Eurogold, including Feni Bernard, who represented the company.

Feni Benard reaffirmed Eurogold’s commitment to supporting Uganda’s local mining communities, saying the company remains dedicated to empowering artisanal miners, promoting ethical sourcing, and driving long-term prosperity within the sector.

MUMA Chairperson John Bosco expressed gratitude to Eurogold and the Ministry, noting that the licence marks a turning point for their members.

“For years, our members have worked tirelessly to gain recognition,” he said. “This licence gives us a new beginning — one built on dignity, compliance, and opportunity.”
