The Guinness-powered Ngo League Season 5 enters the business end on Sunday, 30th November at King’s Park Arena in Bweyogerere.
The playoffs will take place across two matchdays, with this weekend’s event featuring the Round of 16 and the quarterfinal round.
Defending champions Los Bandidos will headline the playoffs after topping Pool A at the end of the regular season. Alionzi has made the most shots of any player in the League (29), scoring 6 goals, while Ssekweyama has 7 goal involvements (4 goals, 3 assists), and Mutatwala has 4 goals to his name. The team faces Dream Team in the Round of 16, a matchup that will test their attacking firepower against a resilient opponent.
Hornbills, champions of the inaugural season, ended atop Pool B, having garnered 10 points from their last 5 games. Jacky Adong has been one of the standout female players of the tournament, scoring 3 goals, making 1 assist, and taking 8 shots. Only Muniru Magomu, Ashraf Lwere, and Lewis Ainebyona have taken more shots for the side. Hornbills face Spartans in the first knockout round, a clash that should give them the chance to extend their recent strong form.

The elders are represented by Kyayitiridde, the oldest cohort in the League, who won 3 of their last 5 games in the run-up to the playoffs. Emma Apedu has been lethal in attack, netting 5 goals from 13 attempts, and sits ahead of Esther Akoj (Barbarians) and Joan Namusisi (Los Bandidos) in the clean sheet race. Kyayitiridde face Barbarians in the Round of 16, a match that will see experience clash with youthful energy.
Representing the youngest cohort in the League are Leviathans. The team returned in Season 5 after missing TNL III and IV and showed determination with a 4-2 victory over the defending champions to close the regular season. Hattrick hero Benjamin Benge, named MVP on Matchday 5, will lead Leviathans’ line of attack. They face Ba Musaayi Muto in the Round of 16, a challenging encounter against a side led by Victor Chacha, Humphrey Enyang, and Vincent Kodet, all of whom will be aiming to surpass last year’s runner-up finish and claim a maiden Ngo League title.
Other intriguing Round of 16 matchups include 9400 vs FC Butida and Tyrants vs Nyanya Mbisi, while Ba Guy will face Hornets, completing an exciting slate of first knockout-round fixtures.
Speaking ahead of the playoffs, Guinness Brand Manager Denise Nazzinda said the League has become a platform where Ngo alumni can come together, celebrate football, and support meaningful causes beyond the pitch.
“The biggest strength of the Guinness Old Boys Leagues is that it provides an opportunity for different cohorts to reconnect, share experiences, and network.
For the Ngo League playoffs, we believe they’re going to be exciting as teams seek to get closer to claiming the coveted silverware. Guinness will be on hand to elevate the experience throughout the day,” she said.
The Ngo league brings together alumni of Namilyango College every last Sunday of the month.
