A joint security team on Monday morning shot and killed three men suspected of plotting a robbery in Kaboja A, Kasenge Parish, Kyengera Town Council in Wakiso District.
The incident happened at about 8:00am on 1 December after security operatives trailed the suspects from Kasenge. According to officials, the group appeared to be following a businesswoman when the operation was triggered.
Early findings indicate the men were carrying knives, housebreaking tools, toy guns, and other items commonly used in robberies. Two suspects died on the spot, while the third succumbed to injuries on the way to Mulago National Referral Hospital.
Security also recovered what they believe to be forged identification documents from one of the bodies. These included a Uganda Police warrant card numbered 38468 bearing the name Byaruhanga Moses, listed as a Senior Traffic Sergeant and dated 2016, as well as a National ID in the name Kachingwa Moses.
The bodies have been taken to the Mulago City Mortuary for postmortem examinations.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson SP Racheal Kawala said investigations are underway to confirm the suspects’ true identities, uncover their wider network, and determine the scale of their alleged criminal activities.
