Media personality Etania Mutoni has set social media talking after urging young women to value money—no matter how little—and to stop depending entirely on men for financial survival.
Speaking on the “It’s Never That Serious” podcast hosted by Sabrina Agasha, Etania said many women feel entitled because they’ve never experienced the reality of earning their own cash.
She pointed out that some women dismiss or disrespect men who don’t provide for them simply because they have never had to work for themselves.
Etania explained that earning money changes how a person views it:
“When you start making your own money, even Shs50k from someone feels meaningful,” she said.
She added that gratitude comes naturally when you understand the effort behind every shilling. Yet, according to her, some young women ask men for millions they themselves have never earned, which makes them undervalue smaller amounts.
Etania encouraged women to build financial independence and move away from the mindset that men must sustain them, saying personal effort and ambition bring a deeper appreciation for money.
